With its wood tables, blue velour chairs, chandelier lighting, piano and large tin boxes above the bar, Zakaim has a charming, vintage feel, as if you’ve just stopped by at your elderly Aunt’s home. While the wine menu is very simple, the cocktails, in sync with the atmosphere, feature spices (cinnamon, cloves), flowered aromas (jasmine and lavender) and typically Persian ingredients such as Persian lemon, date syrup and home-made almonds. The food is made to share including kemia with a multitude of small appetizers, falafel made with potatoes and baked in the oven, or vegetalian ricotta and houmous-tehina. The dishes are genuine, properly seasoned and very fresh. The vegetalian couscous with its lovely golden color and curcuma flavor is a must. We appreciate the way we are made to feel at home, the attentive service and warm welcome.
